Finalists this spring on both Fox’s “American Idol” and NBC’s “The Voice” have sung the band’s classic hit, “Can’t You See.”  The band’s frontman Doug Gray tells Billboard.com he felt honored the aspiring singers chose to cover their song.  He admits that back in 1973 they didn’t know if they’d “make it past the weekend,” and could have never imagined seeing others perform their music more than 40 years later.  Doug adds that both contestants delivered great, soulful performances.

Gray also admits the reality show exposure is bringing new attention to the group.  He says after those performances the Marshall Tucker Band’s website received thousands of hits, while their Facebook page was plastered with congratulation messages.  But Doug says all the attention is really a testament to the quality of the song penned by his late bandmate, Toy Caldwell.
