Opening night of his new tour Kenny Chesney, the 8-time Entertainer of the Year played over three and a half hours inside Nashville’s Bridgestone Area – mining songs from across his career, including five songs from his brand new release, “The Big Revival”.
The 36 song set found the audience euphorically engaged: singing along almost louder than the band could play, raising so many lighters during “Anything But Mine” they drowned the lights in their glow. Equally rapturous was the media in attendance for the sold out show that kicked off 2015’s summer-long The Big Revival Tour.
USA Today set the scene, writing, “Outside Bridgestone Arena was cold and drizzling Thursday night. Inside, it might as well have been a beach party, as Kenny Chesney kicked off The Big Revival Tour” and Rolling Stoneopined, “Fired up and sold out. The Nashville show was a packed house — with tickets selling so fast that the country superstar decided to add a second night.”
Local daily The Tennessean offered, “Over the course of the concert, Chesney didn’t talk much – he just kept the hits and charisma coming… Fans sang ‘Summertime’ along with him and nearly as loud as his state-of-the-art sound system. Audience members used their cell phones to light up the arena like fireflies during ‘Anything But Mine’ and danced and sang along with ‘No Shoes, No Shirt No Problems.’”
Country Weekly deemed “Thursday night’s (March 26) kickoff show for The Big Revival Tour at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena was one for the ages, while AllAccess.com raved “it was clear last night that he’s missed sharing music with 20,000 fans and some of his closest musical friends.
“I learned a long ago, you never know what the critics will think,” Chesney explained. “So I do my show for the fans, send ’em home happy, give them a few hours where the only thing they think about is the good stuff, give ’em the best night they’ll have all year – and know that’s my bottom line. But I have to say, when the reviewers like it, too, that’s the best feeling of all.
 “The crowd at the Bridgestone both nights was incredible – and getting to play with Joe and Grace and David Lee, as well as Taylor and Kracker the first night was awesome. And the reviews? Well, you could say they’re icing on the birthday cake.”
With two sold-out Bridgestone Arena shows opening his 2015 The Big Revival Tour, Chesney is leaning into summer with a vengeance. The Corona Light sponsored tour – which has sold a million tickets before the first note was played — runs 55 dates, including 22 stadiums through August. The man The Wall Street Journal called “The King of the Road” is heading into a very good summer, indeed.
