  • 1983 - The Everly Brothers performed together for the first time in ten years at the Royal Albert Hall in London.


  • 1984 - Merle Haggard's "Let's Chase Each Other Around the Room" hit number one on the Billboard country singles chart.


  • 1985 - The first Farm Aid concert was held in Champaign, Illinois. Farm Aid founders Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young hosted the event, which also included performances from Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Billy Joel, B.B. King, and others. The show raised more than seven-million-dollars for farm families in need.
